Tips for Students: Distance Learning :D
August 18th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
Something that I’ve been thinking about for my own studies too, it’s taking distance learning courses, so to make it easier to keep my own job while still studying. Of course, I’m going to try and access University next month, but I’m willing to take at least one extra course through distance learning. For my own sake
Then of course, if I lived in the UK things would have just been easier XD I found this great UK-based website, UK OpenLearning, and I was amazed by the incredibly long list of available courses it offers o.O
Between the most interesting course (well, for one who loves psychology at least like me!), I chose to talk to you about 3 of them: Bookkeeping (ICB), Child Care and Social Studies.
Bookkeeping (ICB)
For the ones who want to develop their bookeeping skills without moving from home, this online course could be the best choice. The student would be given a personal tutor and a very experienced teacher that can be contacted by email or by regular post, and who will provide continuous feedback to help the student improve in his field. The course costs are around £295.00.
Child Care
This category contemplates a wide variety of courses, from the most basic to the most complex and difficult. As I said, I have a love for Psychology, so the one I’m going to speak about is the Child Care & Child Psychology Course For the ones who aim at working in the child care field (i.e. babysitters, educators, nursery guardians, etc.), this course will provide the student (to whom no previous experience or knowledge is required) with a qualified tutor and is composed of 9 learning Units with related tests/quizzes. The qualification is accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA). It will cost you £545.00.
Social Studies
Another wide category to explore, so I will focus once again on something that’s Psychology related The Psychology Advanced Diploma Level 4. This is about Applied Psychology, in particular about cognitive psychology and social behaviour. To undertake this 100 hours advanced course, students must have attended to an introductory course in a Psychology, and it’s composed of 6 learning Modules, regularly tested by qualified tutors. It costs £311.00.
